Worlds of Worship Service held on 6 December 2022
The annual Worlds of Worship multilingual family service of thanksgiving is held every year on the Independence Day of Finland on 6th of December.
This year the service was organized by the Arabic, Chinese, English, Estonian and Russian parishes of Helsinki Evangelical Lutheran Church. It was open to all who wish to participate in a multilingual Worship Service. For this year this traditional service was held at Helsinki Cathedral (Tuomiokirkko).
This year the music performed for the multilingual Worship Service included a performance of the Arabic language Peace Choir.
The Children's Choir of the Chinese parish of Helsinki performed twice during the multilingual Worship Service.
There were intercessory prayers delivered in the languages of English, Estonian, Arabic, Chinese, Russian, Ukrainian and Finnish.
Throughout the Worship Service with varied music sung in many languages, the Cathedral resounded with the accompaniment of the band of the Estonian Choir.
The Worlds of Worship family service of thanksgiving in 2022 was led by Pastor Anna Poutiainen and Pastor Hans Krause. At the end Holy Communion was administered and all visitors blessed. Then we all went outside into the brisk winter evening to enjoy traditional Finnish hot winter drink 'Glögi' with gingerbreads, served by the Russian congregation.
The Worlds of Worship multilingual family service of thanksgiving was organized by the five parishes that serve congregations who do not speak Finnish or Swedish.
