Puistola church

The Puistola church, completed in 1960, is one of the six churches of the Malmi parish. Because the bell tower cross is illuminated, for air traffic, the church has also been called the church of the burning cross.

The sewing circle of the Small Church Association began to collect funding for the Puistola church in 1930. The Puistoa church support association was founded in 1936. When the Malmi parish was founded in 1953, the assets of the support association were handed over to the parish.

The red-brick Puistola church, designed by architects, Eija and Olli Saijonmaa, was completed in 1960. In addition to the church space, its three storeys accommodate a parish meeting hall and operational facilities. On top of the 30-metre high bell tower is an illuminated cross.

The church houses the work, Ecce homo (Behold the man), by sculptor, Gunnar Uotila. The organ is by the organ builder, Veikko Virtanen.

The renovation of the church was completed in 2002. It was designed by architects, Anna and Ulla Saijonmaa. The church is used by the Malmi parish.
