By Metro to Music: Iberian Impressions
Iberian Impressions
In the concert by cellist Katariina Selenius and guitarist Santeri Rautiainen, we hear the duo’s new arrangements from the late-Romantic piano repertoire. The programme presents three late-Romantic Catalan composers: Federico Mompou, Isaac Albéniz, and Enrique Granados. All were not only composers but also accomplished pianists who created extensive piano works. Their music rose to iconic status in the 20th century largely through the interpretations of pianist Alicia de Larrocha. Their musical language combines Spanish national Romanticism with French and German influences. Many of these works have also become widely known through arrangements for classical guitar.
Music by Granados, Mompou, Albéniz.
Free entry, programme €10 to support the concert series.
