Merirasti chapel

The Merirasti chapel, completed in 1993, is located near to the Meri-Rastila recreational area in Vuosaari.

The Merirasti chapel was designed by architect, Kaarlo Leppänen together with structural designer, Lauri Mehto. The chapel was completed in 1993. The altarpiece is the window artwork, Elämänpyy ja kyyhkynen (Tree of life and dove), by Kaarlo Leppänen. The church textiles are by textile artist Päikki Priha. Ene Walterin designed the interchangeable cross ornaments of the mass cassock. The rug, Nuoren tytön ryijy (Young girl's rug) is by Countess Eva Mannerheim-Sparre.

The chapel has an electronic organ. The chapel is used by the Vuosaari parish.

Celebrations at the church

Members of the church can organise a baptism, a wedding or a funeral free of charge in the church.

The chapel seats about 30 people and the parish meeting hall 100. You can reserve a guided tour by calling in advance.
